Dr. Steven Edelstein’s Bequest Will Help Fund Projects and Improve Patient Care

Steven B. Edelstein, M.D., FASA, received his B.A. in chemistry from the University of Kentucky in 1985, his M.D. from the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine in 1989, and has been an anesthesiologist for 27 years.

“Being an academic anesthesiologist has been the most rewarding career I could have ever imagined,” Dr. Edelstein says. “I truly want to help inspire others considering the field and to promote the long history of scholarly activity that the specialty has done within medicine. I want to give back to the profession that has given so much to me.”

After many years of annual giving, Dr. Edelstein has become a member of the Legacy Society by including a gift to FAER in his will. “The dedication of the academic anesthesiologists involved in the organization is an inspiration to all of us within our profession,” he says. “FAER promotes the academic mission of the specialty through enhancements in education and by supporting cutting-edge research that affects the management of patients undergoing perioperative care.”

In addition to the general support of FAER’s mission, Dr. Edelstein hopes his gift will help FAER fund projects that have challenges with traditional funding sources but are viewed as valuable to the future of the field. “Donations to education and research provide a true legacy,” he concludes. “Your support helps the growth and development of anesthesiologists and helps improve the care of patients and their families. These types of donations have far-reaching effects that are sustaining for generations to come.”
